  • Stop by your local post office, library, city or town clerks office

Register to Vote Online

  • Facilitated Through the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles: Click Here
  • To register you will need:
    • your New York State DMV issued driver license, permit or Non-Driver ID
      • it must be your most recently issued document – you will need the ID Number and document number (See Sample Documents)
    • the ZIP Code currently on record with the DMV 
    • the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (SSN)

Eligibility

To register to vote in New York State you must:

  • be a U.S. citizen;
  • be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (note: you must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary or other election in which you want to vote);
  • live at your present address at least 30 days before an election;
  • not be in jail for a felony conviction and;
  • not claim the right to vote elsewhere.
  • *NEW* pre-registration can begin at the age of 16;

2021 Voter Registration, Enrollment, and Address Change

The Political Party Change of Enrollment Deadline for 2021 Primary Elections is February 14, 2021 for the Board to receive an enrollment change. Any political Party change made after February 14, 2021 will not take effect until after the Primary Election of 2021. Since February 14 falls on a Sunday the Board of Elections will be open from 9am-12pm that day to accept any changes to enrollment.
